![]() That’s why we have all the problems in the world, because we don’t listen to the way that God wants us to live our lives. It’s up to us to decide whether to love God in return. He loves us, but has also given us free will to do what we want. How can I base my life on an invisible man in the sky who loves me, but allows all kinds of bad shit to happen in the world? That’s simple. I know, I know – some will bring out the same tired arguments against this. It’s generally the lyrics and the attitude of the band in question that are an issue. It’s not the music itself that’s the problem. The guys in Sabbath can play instruments way better than I can, but at the end of the day in the eyes of God, they’re the same as me. ![]() You won’t see me going “Ozzy is God”, or “Black Sabbath are my gods”. I can enjoy the music knowing that I don’t “worship” it. It’s entertaining, yes, but only God’s word and his works truly MEAN something. It’s for that reason I can separate it from God’s word, and his way. Black Sabbath’s music is great, it’s powerful, but it is at the end of the day, just an Earthly creation of man. The Earth and what’s on it are not of God. “How on Earth can you be a Black Sabbath fan, much less run the site, and still claim to be a Christian – you’re a hypocrite!!” I don’t see it that way. I suppose the biggest thing I can think of in regards to this site and my own personal beliefs is the question I get asked all the time. Or will you still jeer at all you hear? Yes – I think it’s too late. The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate. Open your eyes, just realize that he’s the one Perhaps you’ll think before you say that God is dead and gone ![]() But I wanted to spend some words and talk about it, since I’m called to spread the gospel as a believer. It’s because I’m a Born Again Christian, and yeah, running this site is a constant point of discussion when people who know me from church find out about this. However, what Geezer meant by “You of all people” is the purpose of this page. When the album came out, I asked Geezer Butler what that was about, and his response was, “you of all people should know that.” Once I figured it out, it made sense, yeah. The front cover of the album has the circle image with the “Henry” flying angel/devil/whatever, only on that album, the numbers 25 & 41 appear on each side. Black Sabbath were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.A bible passage? Well, Matthew 25:41 is staring you right in the face if you bought the “The Devil You Know” album. They have sold over 15 million records in the United States and over 70 million records worldwide. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them number 85 in their “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. They were ranked by MTV as the “Greatest Metal Band” of all time, and placed second in VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” list. The band helped define the genre with releases such as Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970) and Master of Reality (1971). The original line-up reunited with Osbourne in 1997 and released a live album Reunion. In 1992, Iommi and Butler rejoined Dio and drummer Vinny Appice to record Dehumanizer. After a few albums with Dio’s vocals and songwriting collaborations, Black Sabbath endured a revolving line-up in the 1980s and ’90s that included vocalists Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Tony Martin, as well as multiple members of Deep Purple and Rainbow. He was replaced by former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Osbourne’s heavy drug use led to his dismissal from the band in 1979. ![]() Despite an association with occult and horror themes, Black Sabbath also composed songs dealing with social instability, political corruption, the dangers of drug abuse and apocalyptic prophecies of the horrors of war. Originally formed in 1968 as a heavy blues rock band named Earth, the band began incorporating occult themes with horror-inspired lyrics and tuned-down guitars.
